Mongolia Winter '17

After an incredible trip to Mongolia in August of 2015, I returned to this beautiful contry in February 2017. The Mongol Ecology Center (MEC) received a government grant to allow two photographers from the first trip return to photograph the Lake Hovsgol and Darhkad Valley areas in the middle of winter. Joined by fellow photographer Phil Bond, our guide Ono Batkhuu of the MEC, Badral Yondon of Mongolia Quest and most of the support crew from the 2015 trip we set out on our adventure leaving Ulaan Bataar on a very cold morning in February 2017. We covered roughly 3,000 kilometers in eight days. With temperatures approaching -40 C, we proceeded to photograph and do our best to stay warm in the harsh, but incredibly beautiful environment.
